When facing a lifetime of addiction, chronic illness, pain and fatigue we must find ways to protect ourselves. We do this by developing defense mechanisms. I have learned that without controlling our defense mechanisms, we remain stuck both physically and mentally. We have the ability to become unstuck and move forward. To have the life we desire. How? By taking control of our learned defense mechanisms.
I hope you find the path to your best life in these words.

We all have defense mechanisms that we’ve gained through time. Many of which we aren’t even aware of. In times of sickness, pain and crisis, we repeat those habits. The habits that have helped us get through problems, with the least amount of suffering. This type of conduct is a natural reaction to our mental and physical states.
We have the power to rise beyond habits and patterns. We perceive the truth that lies beyond because we are spiritual beings. From that point on, we make decisions that allow us to work directly from our inner truth.
Most of our protection systems began in childhood. They began when we discovered that crying would gain us the attention we desired. We learned to avoid being direct and honest. We learned passive aggressive communication allowed us to get what we needed without being reprimanded, penalized, or laughed at.
Some of us may have sought solace in the lives of others. Finding new methods to divert attention away from ourselves. Getting involved in initiatives or rescuing others from their problems. It is an excellent method to avoid dealing with our own problems. When our efforts really assist others, we receive the extra benefit of feeling heroic. While barriers can keep the things we dread away, they can also hold our good at bay.
We link our wants to the creative power of the spirit inside. This happens when we are honest with ourselves about what we actually seek. Knowing that we are one with the universe’s energy helps us to let go of any desire to defend ourselves. We know we are precisely where we are supposed to be. We trust that power. We trust that our trials will provide gifts of development and experience.
We use our hands, thoughts, hearts, and spirits to mold and shape our powerful abundant energy. We create and live our best lives only once we put down our arms raised in defense.
